[email protected] - Hair buying scam

the scammer calling himself Carl Wise - using [email protected] - is contacting people who are selling their hair.

Then he is offering to pay with paypal:

I am still willing to purchase the hair urgently,Hope is still in
excellent condition,i really want to purchase it with short period of time
My form of payment would be via Pay pal. you can read on how to sign
up with pay pal athttp://www.paypal.com/ and get back to me with your
pay pal name and email address to send the money once you sign up.I
am going to Add additional $100 to cover the shipping cost via USPS
posting delivery to my wife hospital place in Nigeria 23401.await
to hear from you soonest so that i can make the payment asap

I have reposed my confidence in you that you will not disappoint me as this will be my first time of buying something like this online ,I have proceed to PayPal with your payment and payment was made confirmed and successfully .Also i did made a payment of $800 for your hair and extra $100 for the shipping fee and the total amount i made i $900,so i do believe you should have received a payment notification from PayPal which will enable you to believe that i truly made your payment. So i would want you to ship the hair today via poster regular mail (USPS) and below is the shipping address :

But he will never pay, he is just going to send a fake paypal email.
So always check your paypal account by typing in the address in your browser for payments to you.
Never trust an email that seems to come from paypal alone.

After the victim believed the fake paypal email and has sent the hair to Nigeria the scammer tries to get some real money.

how are you doing today my wife told me that she will need to pay a customs charges before she can get the hair please i just made another $200 to the amount i made before $900 and the total will be $1,100 please you are to send the $200 to via western union money transfer to the customs so that you can have the total amount of $1,100 in your account as soon as you send the $200 to them please once you send this your money will reflect in your account immediately with out any delay.

Since he never had made any payment at this point the victim would send its own money to the scammer.

Boy am I glad I typed the address into google. I was moments away from cutting my hair and sending it off. How does he do it? My Paypal account does say that the money is pending. I need to alert Paypal to this.

The scammer is using a fake paypal payment confirmation and if somebody does not check his account he can easily fall for the scam.
You should always check your paypal account by typing in the address by hand. Following a link from the mail can lead you to a fake paypal website where the scammer can phish your password.
