I am almost sure this is a scam. Have received questions about buying art earlier but then they wanted to use their own transporter. I answered the first email and asked for address to send to, and got this answer... and they want my Skype number!??

Scam or? thankful for help

From the look of it, this is a overpayment scam. The scammer will send you a fake cheque or money order for more than the value of the items he is buying and ask you to send the balance on to his shipper who will be collecting the item on his behalf.

The cheque will initially clear at your bank (usually after 3 - 5 days) and you will think that it is safe to send the money on to the shipper (who is just the scammer again). However, what will happen is that eventually, the banks will discover that the cheque is fake and claim the money back from you and levy charges for doing so. This will leave you down the amount paid to the shipper.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Very strange how your "art buyer" lives in the UK, but sent you an email from Nigeria. He also is using a "redirect" number. It appears to be a UK number, but can be redirected to anywhere in the world. Very popular with scammers. Yes, this is definitely a scam.
Thank-you for posting. You have left some valuable information here that could help to save other potential victims. :D

Hi inger,

as said by Alan and Helen, this is definite scam.
Do not give real life details, drop contacts with him.

Be cautions if you receive cheques from people you do not know:

This can leave you prosecuted for money laundering.
