I got an email from paypal, possibly from a potential scammer, about money that will not be in my account until I put a tracking number.

It says "Dear Customer,"

He also says that it's for his son, and that He's on a business trip with his boss. Stating that if I dont send the item, he will report me.This whole thing seems fishy to me. Heres some of his "info" :

Email: [email protected]

Shipping Address: Shipping address
Name: William Joseph
Address: 37, Araromi Street/ Itire
City: Surulere
State: Lagos
Country: Nigeria
Pt/Code: +23401

For an adult this person has poor grammar and spelling. Please help!

Hello!
Yep it's a scam as you suspect. The emails are fake. The scammer is trying to steal the item you are selling. If you logged in to your PayPal account directly from www.paypal.com you would see no transfer was actually made. PayPal does not offer escrow services like this. You can forward the fake PayPal emails to [email protected].

Hello illestjayx2,

You are dealing with a scammer. Paypal would never hold your funds. Paypal does not require shipping confirmation to release your monies.

This scammer wants your merchandise. He will use fake screenshots of Paypal and fake email appearing to be from Paypal. Once you ship your item you will not see it again. These scams are typical for Craigslist, Ebay or online selling.

You can always verify payment by directly logging in to Paypal. Not through any links or call Paypal.

You should simply stop communication with the scammer.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Oh it's a scam no doubt about it. It's actually pretty common. Google "Craigslist PayPal scam". Check the email address not just the name and you should see it did not come from a @paypal.com email address. Unless it was spoofed but regardless it's a scam as PayPal does not do escrow transactions.
