Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hello. I've been trying to sell some stuff on Craiglist. At least two different people have tried to scam me. I'm including names given, phone numbers and e-mail addresses in this message, just in case they try to hit anybody else. The names are presumably fake but the numbers and at least some of the e-mail addresses do work.

Name: Gary Charles Williams / Henry Mathew / Gary David
E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]
Number: ???

Name: Kashia Moore
E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]
Number: 203-663-3164

Thanks, and be sure to check the e-mail address if you're told you received money! Paypal doesn't use post.com to send out notices to anybody. ;)

Yes,thank you for posting. I received an email from [email protected] with a reply to [email protected]. All it said was Is the item in good condition before i proceed with purchase? get back to me via text for quick response (203-663-3164) and tell me the final price for the item.
So i googled this number and found your post. This is something i have had to do since posting my ads on craiglist. Constantly googling the scammers.

Hello and welcome to scamwarners Renea,

Text messaging on craiglist is becoming popular with scammers. They can pretend to be deaf and hide there location. They do not want to talk on the phone because you will hear the African accent. With email it can sometimes show a scammers true location.

These scammers are using free text services offered on the internet by US providers. That is why the phone number may show as a US number. They will also use google voice, skype and other services to commit their crimes.

Thank you for posting and helping others. Your post will help others find this scam.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Same here. I called the number & it's a 'pinger' number. Only able to use with wifi for calling & texting.

Here's the message I got:
Is the Netbook in good condition before i proceed with purchase? get back to me via text for quick response (203-663-3164)

I emailed her back & told her to buy through amazon. She said her cc just expired and she doesn't feel secure adding bank info to amazon.
I emailed her back asking for email address & full name & shipping address.....haven't heard back since.

Hi all... I also received the same bizarre communications on Amazon from someone who wanted to purchase using paypal and not through amazon. I went ahead and sent an invoice using Paypal's Merchant Services but of course it was never paid. I'm trying to figure out just what they think they'll accomplish though?! It's not like someone's going to send them something for free to Africa? Some of their messages included:

Welcome to ScamWarners Expressive. The scammer sends an email claiming to be from PayPal indicating that the money is being held by PayPal and all you need to do is send the item and the money will be released to you.

This is a lie. Scammers are fairly successful with this scam. Never trust an email you get claiming to be from PayPal, unless you have verified it by logging into your PayPal account. Don't click on links claiming to be from PayPal to your account. ALWAYS type the address to PayPal into your browser address bar. Don't click on links.

Wanted to "buy" netbook through PayPal instead of Amazon :)

I am glad I searched here first

I also was selling a lap top on Amazon this weekend. Said they can only pay via paypal b/c they don't feel comfortable using Amazon for payment. The customer name "Kristen [email protected]" wanted to buy it for her "lover" named:
Kashia Moore
12203 Old Walters Rd #914
Houston
Tx 77014.
United States

Something didn't seem right although the email they are using looks identical to a paypal email. Found out, it's a big scam. Avoid these people.

Also the scammer's preferred to correspond via text: 203-663-3164. Reporting to Amazon and Paypal.
