Ive been trying to sell my camera for a while now. I recently got a response from a guy. Here is the email I have gotten from him.

"Hello,
Thank you for your prompt response.Actually I have been looking for a
fair price for this Camera and yours seems to cut it. I hope the
Camera is still in good condition and works perfectly.I am presently
in Haiti on Missionary duties so i would not be able to meet you in
person nevertheless I'd like to see more pictures and other features
of it.
I am getting this Camera for my nephew who is on a Student exchange
program with a University abroad,in West Africa precisely and he is
going to be there for 4weeks.My offer for your Camera is $210 and I
would include $50 for shipping using United States Postal
Service(USPS) Priority Mail.
I can effect payment with PayPal since it is a very quick, very safe
and secure way to make and receive payments. Let me know if it is OK
with you.

Expecting your reply.

Regards"

Ive almost been scammed before trying to sell my camera so I am cautious now. Do you think this is a scam? Please help me! Thank you!

This sounds like a scam. In this sort of scam, the scammer insists on paying by PayPal and sends a fake PayPal email saying that money will not arrive in your account until you provide the tracking number of the package. PayPal doesn't do that, and you end up getting no money for the camera.

What email address did he use? If he sent the same message to many people selling items, others may look for the email address.

I'll take it a step further. There is absolutely no doubt. It is a scam, plain and simple.

As VP said, The thief plans to send you a fake paypal email stating that you have been paid for the camera, but if you log directly into paypal, you won't see the money in your account. The email will claim that the payment is on hold until you provide proof that you have shipped the camera (in reality, Paypal does not hold payment pending shipment). The scammer will then try to harass you into sending the camera and giving him the confirmation information. Of course, after the camera has shipped, you will find that there is still no money in your account, because the whole transaction was fake.

In another (much less common) variant, the scammer will pay using someone else's phished or hacked paypal account, so the money will appear in your account--until the victim notices the missing money, and the payment is reversed.
