Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hey guys, I am currently trying to sell a disability trike for £6000 on behalf of my disabled father and I have come across a potentially suspicious buyer and I wanted to get some opinions on it.

Yesterday I received an SMS text message from a sender under the name of "rpscala" saying the following:

Good afternoon, i'm interested in ur bike on autotrader. Pls let me know your final price and its current mileage on mon_paulson(at)yahoo.com

I found it quite strange that a person would ask for these details as I already had them in my original advert on the Autotrader website. I also found it strange that I cannot find a number for the sender, the only thing that appears is rpscala.

So anyway I send the vehicle details as requested to the email address provided and about two hours later I received this response:

Good evening,
Thanks for your response to my sms. I am happy with the price and impressed with the condition as seen on photo, please advice of your pay pal name and email address if you accept pay pal payment as i will not be able to inspect nor pay cash due to my job commitment (Offshore drilling supervisor, Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited). I am shipping the bike to Malaysia and shall make necessary freight arrangement. The freight company will handle all necessary documentation regarding the purchase and freight to Malaysia. Await your response, many thanks.

I use Outlook for my emails, and it automatically detected
the account as "Monica Paulson <[email protected]>"

I sent her an email back last night to ask where she is from and if she is disabled and purchasing the vehicle for herself? I also informed her that someone else had already shown an interest in buying the vehicle and it would only be fair to let them have first crack at it.

This was her response this morning:
Good morning,
I am from England, i reside in Bradford, West Yorkshire. I am buying the nippi for some one else. Please let me know if your are still keen on selling and supply your pay pal details so i can continue with payment immediately, many thanks.
Mon

I am very cautious about proceeding any further as I have read before about car scams involving PayPal and Malaysia. What do you guys think?

Common scam format. It involves a fake PayPal email and real money sent to a fake shipper. Ignore the scammer and keep talking with the real buyer.
