Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

This scammer is claiming to be a buyer of hair and is emailing those placing adverts at http://sellhairstore.com

His first mail comes through the site's mailing system - just like a genuine buyer - and looks like this:

Subject: [This will be a direct quote of the advert's title]
From: sean chris <[email protected]>
To: [email protected]

Hello Seller how are you doing today am interested in buying your hair
for my wife tell me if you still have it for sale and tell me the last
asking price for the hair.

Regards.

This is his second script:

Okay,
I am still willing to purchase this item urgently,Hope is still in
excellent condition,i really want to purchase it with short period of
time My form of payment would be via Pay pal. you can read on how to
sign up with pay pal at http://www.paypal.com/and get back to me with
your pay pal name and email address to send the money once you sign
up.I am going to Add additional $100 to cover the shipping cost via
DHL or international regular posting delivery to my wife hospital
place in Nigeria 23401.await to hear from you soonest so that i can
make the payment asap
Thanks,

Note the offer of overpayment.

Then there follows a faked PayPal mail, claiming that your money is being held until you prove that you have paid the courier.

Note: The email did NOT originate from PayPal.

PayPal is an online money transfer service and would never use a competing money transfer service to receive a payment.

PayPal does not have an escrow service and does not hold payments for buyer/seller protection.

- Details of the fake paypal address and mail will be added to this post as soon as I can get hold of them.

Update.

This scammer has had a sudden change of direction and is asking for bank details to make the payment.

He will attempt to extort the hair from you, or get you to forward the overpayment on the strength of "flashing" the money into your account (it won't really be there). For more information on account-flashing see: http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=24348&p=67564

just let me have the bank details ,bank address also with your home
address so that the money can be transfer immediately.

Regards.

and then, reinforcing the idea of using bank payment:

thanks for your mail am buying this hair for my wife for the x mas and
i want to make it a fast transaction with you right now i don't have a
paypal account but i can make the fast payment via bank transfer all
you need is to get back to me with your bank address and your full
name and home address once i have this the payment will be send to
your bank and your bank will let you know as soon as the money get
into your account.

i don't ask for your account number just your bank name and address
also with your full name home address once i have this the money will
be transfer to your account with out delaying.
Regards.

The sudden change of direction - asking you to open a PayPal account, and then insisting on bank transfer should ring alarm bells.

Update.

[email protected] has now shifted his attention to scamming those advertising their wares on http://kingwood.bookoo.com, particularly jewelry :

Hello seller am really interested in your jewelry please tell me if you still have it for sale also let me know the last asking price.

Regards.

and then, a predictable twist on a previous script, substituting the word "jewelry" for "item":

Okay,
I am still willing to purchase this jewelry urgently,Hope is still in
excellent condition,i really want to purchase it with short period of
time My form of payment would be via Pay pal. you can read on how to
sign up with pay pal at http://www.paypal.com /and get back to me with
your paypal name and email address to send the money once you sign
up.I am going to Add additional $100 to cover the shipping cost via
DHL or international regular posting delivery to my wife hospital
place in Nigeria 23401.await to hear from you soonest so that i can
make the payment asap
Thanks,

Let's wait and see if he follows through with the fake PayPal emails this time, or changes to "flashing" bank payments again.
