perhaps, more so than anything else, this is a heads-up to other honest people who despise scammers:
i sell occasionally on ebay but prefer craigslist b/c the transaction is quicker and much easier when i'm dealing w/ heavy items that are not conducive to standard shipping, such as a treadmill...
ANYHOW, recently, i've encountered a lot of scammers...they ALL converse in an overly polite english that borders on nonsensical...the language reminds me of the essay writing services that exist on the internet which are largely operated by third-world people who are non-native speakers who's english never sounds quite natural
99% of the scams have the same basic pitch: the person claims to be too busy at work to come by and check out the item, but is very interested in buying it as a surprise gift for some relative...they then offer to pay a little extra for my shipping and, in turn, ask for my paypal email so money can be transferred: my buddy fell for the initial pitch at one point...he said that after providing his paypal email, he instantly received a msg to that email address purportedly from paypal, claiming that money had been deposited...he noticed odd grammatical errors, which would never happen on a legit paypal msg...SO, he logged into this paypal thru the main site and found that no money had been sent...so, he ignored the guy...THEN, a day later, he got a threatening msg from the same scammer, again posing as paypal administration, claiming that he would be arrested if he didn't ship the item to the person who recently deposited money for him...LOL, it's all lies...BUT, i could see how that could trick or scare people who aren't savvy...
HERE IS A RECENT SCAM I GOT, AND NOTICE HOW THEY NEVER MAKE REFERENCE TO THE SPECIFIC ITEM:

lol yeah, right...i was selling a used tv that was advertised as having scratches...the person works too much to check out the item, but she has time to scan craigslist, she's getting her grandson a used xmas gift, but she's willing to pay me an extra 60...lol come on
ALSO BEWARE OF EADBERTO SANCHEZ...i've gotten some suspicious scam emails from that person as well...overly polite, no reference to the item, obscurely polite broken english
