I received this email from a craigslist ad I responded to about helping selling on ebay.

I have some ads for sale. Register on eBay with an new gmail email address (the account is free and they ask only a email address) and then I will give you 2 ads to list them . If you are interested open a gmail email address ( after that provide them to me including the passwords ) Immediately after I have the details requested I will e-mail you the ads so you can start the posting .
You will receive 15 % for every item sold +selling fees. Contact me after you make this.
I can pay you via Pay Pal , Checks , Wire Transfer , Bank etc .
Thank you

A legitimate seller does not need a random stranger to place ads for them.

But eBay has a variety of measures, including IP checks, in place to reduce fraud. Scammers have to get around these measures. One of the easiest ways is to "hire" people to place ads, then collect money for items they will never deliver. When the scammed buyers report the fraud, the trail will lead straight back to you.
