Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hi guys.

Please AVOID this website>>> http://used-motors-sales.com/ <<< It's a scam!

The website claims to sell repossessed vehicles, taken in from banks, financial institution, government etc.
The website offers a number of very decent selected cars for sale with very very desirable price tags.
Only way to purchase one is through their "live chat" option. The live chat only ever has one representative named "Alisa". Who will then tell you that the car is not registered and that when you purchase the car new license plates will be registered under your name. You cannot view the vehicle, until payment has been processed and apparently you should expect the car to be delivered to you within 5 days. If you then decide the vehicle is not what you wanted they will provide a refund.

I know this is a scam as I used the live chat a number of times, and asked relevant questions which made "Alisa" question who I was with the names I used in the live chat sessions. "Alisa" then immediately removed the website domain, so it was not accessible for a few hours.

VERY VERY DODGY!

AVOID.

Thanks.

First rule is that if the seller won't allow you to see a vehicle he's offering for sale - it doesn't exist, at least not in his possession. Unless you're dealing with a major company with a good reputation, buy locally where you can check out the seller, and that he and the vehicle both exist.

Second - ask him to scan the vehicle registration document and send you a copy which should evidence his ownership of the vehicle in the company's name.

I wouldn't worry about missing out on a bargain - you haven't.

And the physical address seems to be in a residential area. If I was looking at the correct one?

Interested to know where I found some of the photos ?

Truth is stranger than fiction, so they say.

http://auto-zambia.com/used-autos/index.php

As an example

http://used-motors-sales.com/2007-bmw-330d-m-sport.html

is the same as

http://auto-zambia.com/used-autos/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=1

The registration number on the photos matches. :D

So the cars are in Leicester or Zambia or Bury ?

Who knows. That isn't Melbourne Road and there isn't anywhere to park cars near the stated location of the company and I doubt they're in Zambia either.

The company is interesting, as is its location.

I've found another one

http://private-motors-sales.com

that's a doppelganger of

http://used-motors-sales.com

Considering they're both sharing photos with

http://auto-zambia.com/

I'm going to take them away for closer investigation and research.

I'll be back.
