Warning about ebay "buy it now" scam: [email protected]

Be wary of communicating with this email address. The guy posts ads under hacked ebay accounts with high feedback ratings and includes a graphic telling you that you can buy it now via [email protected]. He then sends you a fake ebay invoice that asks for a direct bank transfer. The scam idea is not new, but this seems to be the newest email address to watch out for. Thus far the only infected ebay account I've found is mooney99_1976_1 but there may be more. If you spot anything similar, please reply here.

Yes this asshole just scammed me on a camera that I was so excited to receive. $2500 down the drain. I don't know what to do now because ebay says they have nothing on file because the ebay emails I was getting were fake. Do you have any suggestions? I can't even find his original ebay account now

Whatthedaish, I don't want to give you any false hope because scams like this are notoriously hard to recover money from. Can you pm me more details on what happened to you, such as date, item, email communication, etc?

This guy moves quickly and quietly. He has several hacked ebay accounts and switches them up all the time. The only defense is to AVOID these listings and report them to ebay, if possible.

Indeed; I believe this thread is already outdated. These guys move fast and change their email frequently (not really a hard thing to do, so not a compliment to them). In fact, I'm pretty sure they have multiple emails active ATM. All I can say for now is: be wary whenever you encounter an ebay listing where the seller wants to conduct a "buy it now" over email. Take time to evaluate and ask questions. Remember: it is always better (and more profitable) to be patient and let a good deal go than to be hasty and get scammed; scammers feed off of knee-jerk reactions.
