Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hi there,

I received a text from a number (In NZ), asking me to contact them by email. The name of the text sender, and the email weren't the same, which first tipped me off lol.

Emails went like this...

Thanks for your response, I am really interested in the immediate purchase, what's your best price you want for it and how neat is the body condition of it?

Cheers.

I sent a few emails back and forward, and got the following responses:

Hello ,
Thanks for your response.I'm satisfied with the condition and Agree with the price,I need to let you know that my shipping agent will be coming for the pick up as soon as the payment has been complete and approved by PayPal and the shipping agent will be the ones to help me handle all other necessary details to complete the deal when they get to your home address for the pick up. .so i'll be buying the merchandise without seeing it, i'll arrange the pick-up of the merchandise with a Private Courier Service as soon as you get your payment and if you don't have an account with paypal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one. Just log on to www.paypal.com, I need you to provide the following details so that i can proceed with the Payment...

Your PayPal e-Mail Address :
Your Full Name:
Your Mobile Number :

Soon as i make the payment and you get the funds, the Courier Service will come and pick up the merchandise at your home at your convenient time also the courier will help me sign the required papers.

Have a nice day.

Cheers.

Oh..sorry to hear you don't have an account with PayPal.I hope you wont mind to get an account with PayPal.Its reliable and easy to use PayPal,all you need to do is visit www.paypal.com and register with them.

When you are done with the registration send me the email used for the registration with PayPal so i can pay in.

Await your response...
Thanks !!

I sent through my PayPal details, and received two fake emails from PayPal (because they asked me to pay money via Western Union), and another email from this email address as per below:

Hello,
The transfer has been completed. Please check your in-box or junk for payment Confirmation ([email protected]),I am sure you must have see the email from PayPal with the confirmation email that the payment has been made,a total of $1,500 was sent $1,000 for the Item Purchased and the extra $500 for the shipping charges and am sure you notice that, which you will be sending $500 to the address below via western union.

Name : Fredrik Maloney

Address : 235 Greenfield Parkway,

City : Liverpool

Postal Code : L3 3DB

Country : United Kingdom

You will go ahead now ad send the agent money as soon as possible and send the western union receipt to paypal by replying to the message you received from them and as soon as they verify the western union details valid, all your funds will clear and activated into your account.

As per the e-mail paypal sent to me which is also similar to yours, you will have to pay an upfront payment out of your pocket via western union at any western union office to the shipping agent information given to you

With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the pick up agent so you don't have to worry about that.My shipper would be coming around to your area to have the item picked up once you have sent the shipping charges fee to them.

It's Nice Doing Business With You.

Thanks.

Clearly a scam.

I have reported the emails, to both websites involved (TradeMe & PayPal). Do I need to do anything else?

Cheers
