Hi Volha

Welcome to Scamwarners

I will have to take a closer look but first impression is a scam,

The phone number is a UK redirect number, they are common with scammers.

I will dig a little deeper and see if there is anything else

OK,

I will keep adding anything i find

On the first phone number I find this http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=g ... 7024035987

Thank you once again Enchantress

Sorry Volha

that seems to be a lot of money for a live in nanny, nearly 5,000 pounds per month, combined with the 2 UK redirect phone numbers there is little doubt about this one

I presume the scam will come into play when you need to arrange some paperwork

It is a scam--you will need to pay Visa fees, etc. in advance that you will never see again.

A few points:

First, with the weekly allowance, the wage is far beyond the average nanny wage, and that is before the education assistance they are claiming they are willing to make.

Second, if these people were in the UK, they would have landlines or straight UK cell numbers. As Ralph pointed out, 44-70 numbers redirect to any phone in the world. Because many people don't know this, many scammers in Africa who are pretending to be in the UK use these numbers, and the victims unfortunately believe they are really in the UK. They are using gmail, which strips IP addresses, so you probably can't get their real location--but it is likely Africa somewhere.

Third, though the writing is better than that in the average scam, there are still issues with the writing that indicate non-native English speaker, while they appear to be claiming to be from the UK.

Fourth, while the request for a resume is normal, the email as a whole is not. Note that between the ad and email there is no physical address or even general area (a normal employer would provide this information up front, especially if they are supposedly going to support the nanny's education, as a candidate would need to know where the job is so they could identify educational opportunties). There is also no basic description of the children (not even ages) or job (not even a basic description of responsibilities)--the withholding of the "terms and conditions" is just bizarre, and the "all you need to do is convince us" is equally unprofessional and not a normal response. So you are supposed to convince them you are ready for a job they have told you nothing about?

Hi Volha,

I am sorry to hear you have sent money to these scammers, unfortunately, as The Enchantress suggests, there is no way of retrieving it.

Ignore all future correspondance, they will continue to lie to you to try to get you to send more money, please dont, regardless of what they say.

We are always happy to check out any future Au Pair positions you find but the key here is that you shouldn't be paying anybody to get the job
