BEWARE! Ontrack has a new name- SAME SCAM! The new website is thenewontrack.com . I was just contacted by them. They told me that in order to get my $10,000 loan, I needed to send them $475.00 to cover the insurance for the loan. They directed me to a website called boyd-direct.com which was conveniently created on March 13, 2010.
They also have a new phone number 877-288-7420. Please tell everyone you know to avoid this site like the plague. :dancebaby:

Welcome here mirdvs77.

The website is registerred just recently in may. Couldn't find much of the real owner of the site, just the registrant. Did you receive any emails from them?

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

Hey everyone,

I needed a personal loan, so I found this site called ftacksel.com there were red flags that went up in my head but I figured maybe I was wrong, and it was legit.
I received a call today from a guy named Victor Willicost saying he was calling from Rebuilding Financial Services, phone 1-877-582-5005 ext 2. He told me he did get an approval on my loan. And my payment would be $217.12 And gave me three options to receive my loan money($11,500). He said I could either use something with equal value of the loan amount so if I miss a payment, they would seize whatever I had offered that was equal to the loan. Second option was get a co-signer, and they can use something as a collateral value to the loan. Third option was pay a one-time fee of $725 UP FRONT. I asked him how long I had to decide, and he said he'll give me until the end of next week. The thing is he didn't seem pushy at all! He did say he could have the money to me by tomorrow. He told me that because my credit was bad, the $725 will be for insurance coverage, and so if I miss a payment, insurance will cover my payments up to 6 months.
What's fishy is he didn't ask me to sign anything. Also I tried to e-mail the company as I had to make a change to my form, and I received a failure notice saying the e-mail address didn't exist. Also the site said it was for Canadian/US residents, and it wasn't taking my Canadian postal code, so I listed my Canadian address with a US postal code, and Victor did not say anything to me about it. There was also no credit check involved I don't think, it just asked for my credit score.

I just need to know if this company is valid, before I go sending $725 to them. I will be using the loan for a new car, as well as debt repayment, but I will be selling my CURRENT car to come up with the $725.
I would HATE to be out of a car, and the promised loan!!!! So I figure I'll ask you all before I may get caught in the biggest scam of my life!

Please HELPPPPPPP

Hi Lor, welcome to Scamwarners

Without looking too far just yet, it certainly looks suspicious and i would urge you not to provide any more information to them and certainly dont send any money.

Do you have any other information from them, emails you have received, phone numbers, websites or contact names, anything at all you have could be helpful that is not already posted.

I will see what I can find on the information we have so far but more information if you have it will certainly be a huge help in finding the truth.

Editing to add;
Could you please check that site address (ftacksel.com) posted above, a search shows that site does not exist;

Domain or IP Address Not Found

The phone number makes me very suspicious, a search on the phone number leads me to this little piece of information on a website that has since removed it;

Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc.
Veronica Mosqueda
Loan Officer
14405 Walters Rd. 1002
Houston, TX 77014
877-582-5005 Phone
866-615-1911 Fax
[email protected]

One of our fake site pros may be able to find more on that, I will have a dig around but I am fast running out of things to look for.
by lor565 Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:42 pm
Hey,

WOW you've found more that I did. Thanks for the info. The number still does belong to a loan officer. Still not legit? lol

Unfortunately I didn't get anymore info on any other numbers but I did get another name. I called the number back and it's an automated voice saying "Thank you for calling rebuilding financial services, if you know the extension of the person you wish to reach please enter it now or choose 'Alex Rodriguez' or 'Victor Willicoat'"

SKETCHYYYY! Not sure why you had problems with the website, I just tried it again and it's active. I'll put it here again :)

Hope this helps! Keep us posted!
Thanks

Also I forgot to add, I did call them back and asked the guy where I would need to meet to sign stuff.
I figured asking the question, he would try to get out of it really fast. He told me that when I sent in my deposit to secure the secured personal loan, I would get a package in the mail explaining my loan payback.
I asked if he would send me through like a fax or if I could come down there or something BEFORE I pay them anything. He told me he'd have his "secretary" send me through a sheet to sign in the morning. But I didn't give him a fax number!! haha. Can't remember if I put down my email address though :?

Let's see what happens!!!!!

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT THIS IS A SCAM:

First of all, check out this site, also less than a year old, registered for 1 year. Compare the intro paragraphs to the intro on the "Fast Track" site.

http://www.westcocof.com/

I also checked out the joke that this site calls an "application."

The first thing that catches my eye is this claim:
we recommend that all of our potential clients submit an online application. This is the quickest, most reliable and secured method to provide us with the necessary information on your application.

The application is NOT secure. It is on a regular, not secured page.

Second, social security number is an "optional" field. This is necessary information in order to perform a credit check. Supposedly the interest rate is going to be credit score dependent, which means they would have to obtain a credit score No lender would allow an applicant to tell them a credit score--that would be completely idiotic, as people would just lie.

Check out how many sites use this exact same line.
We provide our services nationally to a diverse group of individuals through our vigorous network that offers low competitive rates.

All one year sites, all duplicates. One of them is already suspended:
Domain Name: NEWEDFINC.COM
Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com
Name Server: NS1.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM
Name Server: NS2.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM

The address appears to be stolen from a legitimate business:
VentureLink Fund Inc.
c/o W. James Whitaker, Director
address as a t amalgamation:
801 - 1 Richmond Street West
Toronto ON M5H 3W4

As far as this goes:

He said I could either use something with equal value of the loan amount so if I miss a payment, they would seize whatever I had offered that was equal to the loan. Second option was get a co-signer, and they can use something as a collateral value to the loan.

They are counting on you needing the money now, and they will come up with all sorts of delays and/or reasons why it won't work or it will take too long to go that route. Ultimately, the only thing they want is your $725, and any additional money they can take from you after that.

In the end, ANY loan that asks you to pay money up front for ANYTHING is illegal and a scam.

UPDATE TO ADD: Check out this statement from the FTC:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consume ... tel16.shtm
Any up-front fee that the lender wants to collect before granting the loan is a cue to walk away, especially if you’re told it’s for “insurance,” “processing,” or just “paperwork.”

The website was created only 6 weeks ago, hardly something to build confidence when they want your money upfront before you even fill in any forms.

It is a 2 year expiry, a one year registration is a good sign of a website that does not expect to be around for a while but these days a lot of scammers recognise that it is a good warning sign and make it a 2 year registration hoping to look more legitimate.

Another red flag to me is the use of domains by proxy, that basically means that the person who is creating the site is hiding and not showing ther face, certainly not something to give me any faith

Now I have noticed that Dotti has posted so I will leave it there.

Certainly dont send any money or any of your details to these people, if you have given them information about yourself you may need to take steps to protect your identity, if you have given them bank details, contact your bank and have teh accounts you have given them details for changed.

While this is not my area of expertise, I am comfortable to say that this one is a scam

Also, just wondering if anyone knows of any LEGITIMATE websites to apply for a personal loan in Canada for people with bad credit?

Any sites where I won't be scammed out of my money would be lovely. I've been told that if a loaner needs to put insurance on a loan to secure it, they take it OUT of the loan, and NOT ask you to send some up front first.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. :)
