"Romanian Style" Car Scams

In response to jayinVA, I just had contact with that same scammer earlier today. The email address he/she is using is [email protected]. I provided my name and address before realizing it was a scam. If I receive any call or email from anyone asking for my bank account or requesting me to send a payment western union I will hang up or report the email. Im only worried about what they may be able to do with my name and address. I already alerted the credit bureaus to put a fraud alert on my credit report. Can they do any serious harm with my name and address?

Please don't worry, your name and address are not enough information for identity theft. The scammer is only after fast money.
However, he might think it is worth a try to do a scam of a different type, so beware of suspicious emails you may get in future, and come back any time for help.

You that are keeping up with this her name is now Jennifer Miller and she is on Craiglist in Arkansas. I was smart enough to google her name and found this site so i am telling my story and her is the email i received.
Thanks for this site will be using and i am glad i took the time to google before i emailed her back.

I sell it at this price $ 1.850, because I just finished the divorce, and I am very glad that I took the car, because it was my ex husbands most precious thing.I don't ask to much for the car because I just want to get rid of it ASAP, since the bastard cheated on me in this car. This Nissan runs as good as a new one and has no dings, dents, or scratches. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay. I prefer the payment to be done using e Bay services (I will receive the payment only after you receive and inspect the car and only if you agree to buy it). We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at e Bay and I have a purchase protection account ( i hope you saw this then you contacted me ). The last price for this is $1,850, no trades, only cash and only with e bay, because I cannot sell otherwise. I will pay for shipping and handling(the loan of my previous buyer didn't get approved and he already paid the shipping costs) so there won't be any additional shipping costs).

got cuaght up in this scam on craigslist just today, they claimed to be Jennifer rogers from marysville Ohio and sent me the same divorced email I seen in a earlier post still using the same e-mail [email protected]. I also sent them my name and email adderess before i decided to bing thier name and email adderess. But so glad I did becuase it brought me to this web site thanks for the help

WOW! I am so happy i googled JENNIFER ROGERS name!! He or She sent me the same sob story!!! n i got sent an invoice from "ebay" i told her i was gonna start the transaction process tmrw! man im so happy i didnt!!!

Wow, I got that exact same divorce story too, She calls herself Jennifer Rogers, email:[email protected], and the "ebay" is actually [email protected]! My husband and I were ready to go to Western Union, I KNEW it was odd that the "ebay" address was in the UK! Don't let this person scam you! I am actually corresponding with this person at the moment, what should I do with the information they provide me?

Welcome to the forum. It's great you didn't send money to these criminals. If the email address is different to the ones mentioned then please post it here. It's helpful for when other people research the person/transaction

We just ran across this same scam today... Good thing my husband noticed that it was a little sketchy, because I had no idea! But as soon as he mentioned that "maybe it's a scam," I immediately got online and started doing my research. This was sent today, 9/26/2013. The email address has changed, the name has changed, and the wording of the email has changed. but it is still very similar!
