Len, I'm sorry that you keep getting hit by those scammers (in most cases young males sitting in a sweaty cybercafé in Africa). To avoid being targeted even more, please delete your name if it is your real one.
Best wishes for finding a real life girlfriend!

Hi Len,

Yes, scammers often follow a script. They deal with many victims at once and it would take too long to write in a second or third language. They are after your money, they are not looking for a real relationship.

What you scammer was telling you, is he doesn't have enough money to pay his internet cafe time unless you send him money.

Oh, I edited out your name from the IM transcripts. :?

He probably got a pay day from a victim, so could spend more time and money at the internet cafe.

The ones you reported, WILL be back with a different profile IF they get kicked off. Reporting them is not helpful in the long run. They just reinvent themselves and keep on scamming. They believe it is an honorable way to get money.

^^^The problem with that is that they usually don't use their own computer. They work out of cyber cafes, so they have many computers (and therefore IP addresses) to choose from. Like Bubbles said, they will be back shortly after being kicked off.

That's actually a pretty standard scammer response. They will try denial, guilt, and threats to try to get the information removed. Often it happens because the posted information warned another victim, so they lost their payout. Obviously, it is a good thing, because it means your post is having an effect. Sadly, an approach like that sometimes convinces victims to withdraw their statements.

Lying is a way of life for these scammers. Very often lies come more quickly to them than the truth. Society is so warped around these scammers that many of them have actually convinced themselves that they are actually doing nothing wrong.

Scammers have used that approach before. Sadly, some victims have fallen for it.

Scammers sometimes use photos without knowing who the real person is. We prefer not to educate them by pointing out the real person in the photos, as they can make their lies slightly more plausible when they use real information. Please do not point out the mistakes that get them caught--all you do is teach them so they don't make the same mistakes next time.

The real actress (who is not 36 years old) is still in the porn world. If the person writing you were really the porn star, she wouldn't spell her own name wrong either. And the truth is, someone with her looks and connections is not going to need to use free dating sites--she would have plenty of chances to meet eligible men on her own (though she has stated she prefers women anyway).
