If anybody responds to this scam mail, the next email from the scammer who is pretending to be Doris is likely to state that 'she' is an orphaned refugee with an inheritance of millions of dollars - which she cannot access, due to her refugee status, and therefore needs a foreigner to help her. The 'help' required would soon be revealed to include the payment of fees.
The scammer, however, is not a refugee, and, also, is extremely unlikely to be female. The inheritance does not exist, and therefore the fees, also, are invented.
Other possible scenarios a scammer might invent as a follow-up to this email include:
- Doris pretending to fall in love with the recipient of the scam mails; and then facing a problem or tragedy that requires asking for money; or
- Doris encouraging the recipient to attend a charitable or other type of conference that 'she' is organising or attending; or
- Doris encouraging the recipient to join her in her work for her voluntary organisation or charity.
But whatever the storyline is - one of those above, or something completely different - there are two absolute certainties: (1) Money will be requested; and (2) The 'reasons' for needing money are untrue.
It is a scam.
