Welcome, eccu_gemini. I'm glad you took the time to check on these, they are both scams.

Please see this information on Au Pair scams: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3019

Two particular parts to note from the topic I linked to are:

•If the host family/travel agent claim to be in the UK and use a telephone number that starts +44 70 - these are re-direct phone numbers that can be forwarded anywhere in the world and are not normally used by individuals in the UK.

One of the email scams you posted does indeed use a redirect number so the scammer can pretend to be located in the UK.

and:

Travel Agents do not arrange visas or work permits for people. They arrange holidays and flights, but have no involvement in obtaining your visa. If you are travelling to another country to work and you need a visa then you will need to obtain it IN PERSON from that country's consulate in your country.

This is usually one of the keys to Au Pair scams, fees supposedly for obtaining a visa for you.

Do not respond to either of those emails and let us know if you have any questions.

Have you sent a payment to a scammer with Western Union and now realize it's a scam? If the payment has not been picked up, you can cancel it immediately! 1-800-448-1492

Au pair employers don't send any documents to you, nor ask you to pay for them, or for work permits and visa's. If he doesn't seem interested in your person, or your work experiance, then you can be sure it's a scam.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

Hello eccu_gemini
As Jillian has noted previously, the phone number mentioned earlier of +4470457 60108 is a good indicator of a scam.
Please have a look at the post in the topic at viewtopic.php?f=26&t=13567 because it gives a good explanation about these 4470 phone numbers.
And thankyou for posting your story, it will save someone in future.

UK only allows au pair visas to residents of EU and a few other countries. Many countries, including Philippines and even the USA, are NOT on the list. If you are a citizen of Philippines, USA, or any non-EU country that is not on the list, then it's a guarantee that ANY offer you receive for an au pair job in UK is a scam, as by law you cannot get a visa.

They appear to be legitimate, though I don't know anything about the quality of their service.

However, you need to understand the service immigration specialists provide. What immigration specialists can do is to help you to understand the laws and what you need to do to apply. A good immigration specialist is very familiar with the application process, and can answer questions about it. They can help you to make sure your application is completed correctly, potentially saving you a lot of time that could be wasted if you make a mistake on your application. If you have special skills, a good immigration specialist can help to make sure you make the most of them when you are applying for a visa. If your case has complications, a good immigration specialist can help you to sort them out.

But, an immigration specialist CANNOT guarantee you will get a visa. They do NOT have any influence on the government's decision as to whether to give you a visa. And if the law says you can't get a certain visa (such as an au pair visa which is limited to certain countries), they will not be able to get you the visa either.
