Has someone offered you a huge sum of money or a valuable consignment? It's a 419 or advance fee fraud - find out how they work, and what to do to be safe.

Hi all,

Well, I find myself here having just been successfully scammed (and taunted) by my scammer. I didn't Google first, ship second - even though my gut told me otherwise.

I posted my used Ipad on Craigslist and was contacted via this initial email:

[i]Hi Alex,

I'm still interested in buying your iPad.. Is that the best price you can give me? Hope i wouldn't cause much stress for you asking you to assist me in shipping it cos i have just left for a business trip. Also I would add an extra $50 for expenses and shipment fee and i will be paying via paypal, so send me a paypal money request to my paypal account "[email protected]" you can create an account with paypal if you don't have, it's free, and get back to me asap so i can proceed with payment.

Hope to hear from you soon

Sincerely,
Anita

Having not had tons of experience with Paypal - I didn't check that they don't make you send the tracking number before releasing payment.
I was sent a BOGUS Paypal email from this scammer (exactly as this forum has described) and I sent the tracking number of the USPS Express Mail International shipment to both paypal and this scammer.
I realized something was not right with this transaction way too late. Shipment Delivered to the "niece" in Malayasia.

It looks like this delivery address in Malaysia has been used before to scam - when I finally googled it.
Is there any way to notify the local authorities and shut these people down? Or at least the shipping address? I know they'll just find another one - but it would give me great satisfaction to know these &%^$#@$# were put out - even if just for a minute.

Is there any place I can report this to Malaysian authorities?

The address shipped to was:

Henne McLaughlin
N2-3-12 Nuri Court Apt
Pandan Indah
Kuala Lumpur, 55100
Malaysia

Thanks for any help. I am a total idiot and out one top of the line Ipad.

Welcome to Scamwarners, and I'm sorry to hear you were scammed.
Normally it's impossible to catch scammers in view of the lack of their real life details. In your case, you have a delivery address, but I still don't hold out much hope. Worth trying though.
There's www.rmp.gov.my/, which shows an email address [email protected].
You could also tell USPS. If you can satisfy them it's a scam, they may be able to intercept other packages sent to that address.
