This report is being written as the result of a financial fraud that was committed against me by Avenue Financial Group (AFG) which I believe does not exist but the address they provide on their letterhead is 595 Stewart Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530. The telephone number that was used during all communications is 866.403.6662 and the fax number that was used is 516.977.1030. Their website is http://www.avenuefinancial.net. The names of the two people that I spoke with are Matthew Price (x274) and Dennis Crown (x0)
On December 11, 2008 My wife returned a call to Matthew Price of AFG who had contacted me regarding an online app for a debt consolidation loan I had done online at Prime-lenders.net. Matthew told her that I had been approved for $50k. Matthew explained that because this was a secured loan that I would need to provide collateral for insurance purposes as stated in the faxed agreement. The collateral required consisted of and was equal to 6 monthly payments totaling $2519.64 and since I was making such a large payment upfront that I would not need to begin repaying the loan until June of 2009. I reviewed the documents numerous times and even checked out their website. Everything appeared to be completely legitimate. I check the other rip off site and there was no mention of this company and the better business bureau had no records. My wife wiped out our checking account and savings account in order to pay for the collateral. On December 16, 2008 I contacted Matthew Price to inform him that I had the payment required to secure the loan. Matthew explained that the lender was located in Canada and that I needed to wire the funds directly to them. Matthew told me to go to Wal-Mart and ask for a red and white form called a Money Gram. I was to send the monies to Greta Wilson in Calgary, Canada. Since the fee was going to be $50.20 Matthew told me to simply send $2510 to cover the cost of the wire. My wife followed these instructions and contacted Matthew to provide him with the reference number. Matthew stated that the $50,000 loan would be directly deposited into my account on December 17, 2008.
On the morning of December 17, 2009 I received a phone message from Dennis Crown who identified himself as the customer service manager of AFG. Dennis stated in this message that there had been a slight problem with my loan and needed to contact him immediately. Upon contacting Dennis, I learned that the lender after reassessing my loan needed to purchase an additional $2519.64 in insurance to secure the loan. My other option was to receive a full refund. He never indicated that if I wanted a refund I would have to wait until January 10th to receive it, in fact, he implied that if I didn't want to send the additional security payment I could request a refund and it would be credited back to me immediately. I didn't have any money and spent the entire day with my wife thinking about our options. My better sense told me to take my losses and run, but my heart told me it was my only shot and what if it was legitimate, do I pass on money that would help me rebuild my crumbling life. My children and my wife were counting on me and Christmas is right around the corner.
I contacted Matthew Price who appeared to be completely unaware of the situation and stated that Dennis was a good man although very abrutted, would take care of the situation. I contacted Dennis and told him I would send the additional $2510 if he could guarantee in writing that no additional money would be needed and I would get my $50k deposited by December 19, 2008. He hesitated and then complied, I did receive a letter signed by there supposide CEO Phillip J Howard giving me a irrevocable guarantee that my $50k would be deposited with in one business day once the additional $2510 was received. I borrowed the money from a friend and promised to repay her the following day once I received the loan. Once again, I wired the $2510 to Greta Wilson in Calgary, Canada through a Money Gram at Wal-Mart.
December 19th rolled around and no wire. We were told by Dennis that the wire had until 5pm to show up in our account. I waited to 3pm PST to call Dennis and ask if he meant EST or PST. At that time he informed me that the lender had backed out of the deal that am and that he had been working tiredlessly all day to secure me a new loan. Which of course he did because he is such a great guy! He had managed to get one of their really good lenders to give me a loan for $100k and the payments would stay the same. He is such a hero he was able to get them to accept only an additional $5k instead of the $10k they wanted becaue they felt so bad that this was all happening because in all the 15 years he has been with this company they have never had this happen to such good people only to those people who have lied on their applications. He also informed me that they would most definately be pursueing that previous lender with full legal action. If I didn't want the $100k, like I stated, I could always take it and pay back the $50k right away and then only have the orginal $50k after all my first payment wasn't for a year!
I flattly refused and told him he was a scammer and I wanted my money back immediately. Of course he informed me that per my contreact I had to wait to the lenders next billing cycle and that would be January 10th in my case. Others have been told January 5th. I know now from reading this and the other rip off report site that I will never receive my money. I did check the "other" rip off site and there was no mention of AFG when I went look today there are 4 reports, there was no mention on your site, so that's why I am now informing you. this company is clearly the new name and operation of Clearbrook Lending group and Clearview lending. Same scam all different names. I hope that someone from this site that has been ripped off by Clearbrook or Clearview will call the above number and press 0 and then press 1, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR NAME, wait for Dennis Crown to answer and let me know if it's the same man/men from these other scams. Other contacts there are Brenda at 384 and a Mark Davis and David Stark, don't know their extentions.
I had to borrow that extra $2510 from a friend that didn't have it to lend but was thoughtful enough since I was giving it right back. I had to wipeout my checking account again, because fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it I got paid on Friday the 19th, I had to take what was left in my checking account and then run all over town to about 4 different pay day advance palace to try and collect enough to pay my friend back, I could not have her be without her money becaue I was an idiot. I was $250 short, but she let it slide when I explained what had happened. I had the horrible task of sitting my 3 kids down this evening and explaining to them that we would not be having a Christmas. I do not get paid for another 2 weeks and I am now in debt to 4 different pay day advance places and my checking account is over drawn and will continue to get even more overdrawn due to the fact that I had to take all the money out I had to pay back my friend and I had debits coming out of there for other pay day loans I already had and bills of my own. My youngest does not understand why Santa can't just bring her a gift. My wife has not stopped crying since yesterday and my poor kids are so worried about what is going on because the don't understand.
Would you believe that Dennis Crown had the nerve to contact me a third time today Dec 20th? This time he stated that he had been working on our file because he felt so bad and he managed to get the company to accept only $3500 instead of the $5k. I told him no thanks and he said he would process my refund. I just said sure because I know now it is not ever going to be refunded. I am determined to find these individuals and prosecute them to the fullest extent possible. I am in complete distress, further in debt than I've ever been, and have no idea how I will function emotionally or financially in the next coming weeks and months. These evil bastards need to be stopped.
