Hello

I'm new here but I am familiar with manny of the scams perpetrated on the internet, I have recieved a mail, IP points to Nigeria as does the contact telephone number, this mail contains details of a victim, including their telephone number. I believe this person has at some time in the past fallen to the advanced fee 419 scam and are now receiving further attempts from scammers, as in " we can recovery your scamed monies, just send us $500 via western union" etc.

Should I call this person and explain what is going on, or would a mod call this person?

Regards

Hey Bazapop, welcome to the site.

It would be best if you PM'd a mod with all the details you have. They can then allocate it to an experienced phone warner. As I'm sure you can imagine, phoning someone up with this kind of news and convincing them that the whole transaction/relationship is a sham, can be very difficult.

Thanks again.

Hi Baza

Welcome to Scamwarners,

Quite a bit of our information comes from people such as yourself and as a result we are able to prevent many people from being scammed so thank you.

As Newdonym suggested, any mod who is online will be able to take those details and make sure that appropriate action is taken, if it is urgent, you could also PM any of the people who are online with a "support team" icon under their names who can make the sure appropriate mod gets the information.

Phone warning can be a tough thing even for an experienced phone warner at times, not everybody we call is happy to hear from us, some people, especially long term victims will often refuse to believe somebody who tells them their dreams will not be coming true, much prefering to remain an investor rather than a scam victim, knowing how to deal with that can make a huge difference to the outcome..
