i was online looking for a personal loan and came across washington equity group in new york ny. i filled out the app and was contacted 1 day later but a "loan officer". i did the app in my husbands name so the guy would not talk to me until he talked to my husband first. he talked to my husband then told me everything about the loan offer he had for us. he sent me an email with the loan agreement attached and asked me to return it with a copy of my husbands drivers license and a copy of his pay stub. he said it was a collerateral loan and that we either had to us my vehicle or pay $750 to get it started. He said i would have to pay the $750 by western union. the web address is www.washingtonequity.org.

Thank you

Hi tpittman,

that is most definately a scam. I checked the website, and it's fake. The paying a fee through Western Union is completely bogus; it makes no sense that you have to pay money to get money (in advance, that is). Any company or bank even listing Western Union as a payment option, is a scam.

The safest way to get a loan is to visit a bank or loan office, in person. There are many, many fake loan companies out there that will try to steal your money.

Could you please post all emails here, with the email addresses and a set of headers? If you are unsure what headers are, tell us which mail provider you use and we'll explain how to find them :)

I only received one email. I use gmail. I am unsure what you want me to post from the email
by Michael Fri Jun 24, 2011 7:32 pm
This is how to find headers in gmail:

*Open the email
*In the top right corner, next to reply, there is a small triangle. Click it.
* Select 'show original'

A new window will open with the headers. Just copy the complete thing and post it here. Do make sure to remove your own email address from the headers, it may be in them multiple times.

Please paste what they wrote in the email itself as well :) Thanks!

I know it's frustrating when you think you've found a legitimate opportunity, and it turns out to be a scam. You'll see in my response in the other thread that these are very organized, active scammers. At least you were aware enough to check it out.

I deleted your later posts just for cleanup, because that first one is the only one our site killers will need.
