I registered with Loanfinder.co.uk a couple of days ago to help me get a loan and today I received a phone call from More Financial who said they could lend me £3000 spread over 4years with a repayment of £81 per month. I was asked if I wanted to proceed with my application and then told there was a fee of £69 payable up front. I said I couldn't pay until the next day (30/06/2011), and gave my card details. I was told I would receive an e-mail within an hour and to make sure I gave my bank details. At this point I asked the girl if would definately get the money paid into my account and if it was necessary to pay up front. She asked me if I needed more time to look at the terms and con's of the loan that was fine but said that no money would be paid to me until I had paid the upfront fee.

Whilst on the phone I got a feeling that something just wasn't right.

When I got home I found some really worrying information, which has led me here. I have cancelled my card by reporting it lost and have ordered a new one in the hope that more financial won't be able to get access to my account.

I have had an e-mail from this company but I don't understand how to give you the header information that you need.

When they called me the number was unknown on my display.

The thing that stands out in my mind is that the girl on the phone told me twice to make sure I inputted my bank details on the agreement before I returned it electronically.

I'm very glad I decided to check them out and that this website was to easy to get to.

Thank You. posting.php?mode=post&f=4&sid=92019e3788550da2bac579b3c631d50c#

Hello i_szi!

Please do post the emails with the headers. You can go here to learn how to find email headers

It sounds fishy but we will be able to help more after we see the emails. From what you posted it sounds like a typical loan scam but more information will help us give better advice.

From the TOS of the site

10. We charge a fee of £69.50 for providing the service of acting as a finance broker
.

From what I can gather from reading the blurb, they do not actually lend you the money they look for lenders.

5. We do not offer nor do we guarantee loans or finance. The lenders or financiers decide whether to approve loan or finance applications, how much to lend or finance, at what interest rate, on which terms and on what evidence of ability to repay

While I am no lawyer and this could be on the up and up, I find it very fishy that you have to pay a sum of money so they can search for a loan for you !

I would suggest going to a Bank or reputable Finance company

Hi, Thank you for your help.
I didn't have an option to click Headers from the View menu just page source. It was too big to fit in my message sorry. I will try again.

Whats bothering me is that more financial knew how much money I wanted to borrow and the repayment plan I asked for and the only other company that I gave those details to were Loanfinder.co.uk a couple of days before. The two companies offer the same service of finding you a loan and not of actually lending you money so how did more financial get my personal application if not from Loanfinder.co.uk.

I am very grateful any advice you can give me on this company.

Yeah I won't be getting involved with them and thankfully they didn't get the £69 out of my account.

Thank you

If you do decide to use a loan broker, it does make sense to go with an established broker that has been around awhile.

Here's an interesting article about the scope of the problem with scam loan brokers. At this point in time, it is a problem in many countries, too.
