I want to learn a few languages and registered by livemocha. The moment I login for the first time, got a message from this "thing". The advantage victims from scams have, is that we learned to "smell" them before they come in. I made up an e-mail address and gave it to her. Here all details:

Now I have enough proof to report abuse by livemocha. It looks like they are everywhere, even at non dating places. In 3 days since my register there, 2 scammers... :thinking: I will report the other one as soon as I get his IP.

His (the scammer is certainly male) first approach said "scam" to me too, although it's hard to say why. The email confirmed it though. "Personal assistant to our country president", "Cocoa industry" (a notoriously violent trade in Africa ) , and "refugee". Classic elements of a scam.

There are three more examples of this particular scam here. Four, once Google picks up your posting. I hadn't heard of Livemocha before, but as you said, scammers are everywhere.

We don't agree with closing free email, and dating site accounts used by scammers. They're easily replaced. And leaving them untouched means that potential victims can google for them if reported to sites like this one. We have a sister site www.419eater.com, which uses a different approach to fighting scams.

Yes, refugee scams seem to be a Senegalese speciality somewhat...
It is a 419 scam and you did great in reporting that (and other ones) here.
Google will do the rest of the work...

Whioch means, if you reported the emails he uses and the profiles he uses, we would have to start allover again (posting a new profile, new pictures, new names (as to new emails)), and it´s still the same scammer.

Exposing is just a little (no, it is much) easier when scammers´ emails are not being reported. As strange as it sounds first..

First to Arnold! Yes It was a romance scam back in November last year...! And all I wanted now was to do something useful for me like improving my languages and get away from this experience. This http://www.livemocha.com offers gratis learning and is really good! I registered April 14th and the first thing was a message from this "lady". You know? It*s like coming back in time to end of last year. I know nothing will happen to me anymore while I have learned the hard way, but somehow it disturbes me! If I were in a dating site will not bother me, but in such a site where people are trying to improve and not looking for a partner makes me ungry. That*s why i decided to report them to the site. I already did. Sorry about that. I know it's better not to do so normally, but I cannot warn all the members and explain to them what is the problem and the risk for them. I am sure most of this people don't know much about this. I talked today to my tutor in English, 56yo from Australia, and he thought I was going nuts, and never heard anything about this. So, I am really confused now and understand the point of view from both of you. It is already done, bad or not, I can not change it now.
Anyway, thanks to both of you for the advise and time given to me.

Hello Lovely Stranger! Thanks for your post here. Your comments will make possible that other people will be safe from this "garbage". I have received 5 such requests in livemocha, so please be careful. This one and Alfred Koffi, I reported to livemocha, but I see they didn't do anything about. Anyway, it is better not to report them so that they keep showing up with the same name and e-mail. Otherwise they will only change names and e-mails and keep doing their business and we would not be able to follow them up, and others finding the information on the right time. My concern is for the ones who never hear about this scams and could fall into it. I felt once only because I never hear this could happen. Someone said to me once: internet can be a very cruel place. And he was right!
