Hello ,

My Name is Terry ,and my wife's name is Rachel . She is 5month's pregnant, shes also nursing our 5 years old kid.I came across your email on craigslist resume ... We are in the process of re-locating to the State from the Canada, as I will be working on a contract basis with the United State Department of Health and Human Services in your area, doing private research work. I am in need of someone who can help my wife with some of the house hold chores, and run some errands when necessary. You would only be needed a few hours per week, at your convenience, but am offering $420.00 per week as compensation, for a trustworthy, and honest candidate.

I already have a financial adviser in the States, who will be handling my affairs. i also have a Personal Assist who is helping me with the re-location process. If you accept this position, I will instruct my finance manager to forward to you, by express mail a check. If this employment opportunity is acceptable to you, please provide me with the following information:

Your full name ................
Your full address, apt # with zip code................
Your phone number for contact......................

Our expected arrival date is Oct 7th but you will be paid $420.00 per week, beginning immediately, as I will have several small assignments for you to complete before we arrive, such as checking the apartment for necessary supplies, purchasing what may be needed before our arrival, etc. All we ask from you is honesty and sincerity. And am sure you will enjoy the time you will spend with my wife. Will be looking forward to hearing from you, regarding this employment offer.

Sincerely,
Terry Smith

now i have a few customers like this already but ive met them face to face and know where they live. this isnt out of the realm of possibilities . but am unsure on whether to respond with the limited personal info they want or not...any help or advice would be great
thanks eli

Welcome to Scamwarners. That's a scam, no doubt about it. The check will be fake, and there will be some excuse to send some of the money on by Western Union or Moneygram.
Can you post the scammer's email address please.

That was not written by a Canadian--it is bog-standard African English.

As Arnold said, this is a check scam. The scammer intends to send you a fake check. Either it will be an overpayment, where you are supposed to cash it and send the excess to someone (undoubtedly there will be some excuse related to setting up the apartment in this case); or he will send the check, then cancel for some reason and ask you to WU most or all of the money back to someone.

In the end, his real aim is to use you to turn phony checks into cash.
