I have a potential buyer for my vehicle in another state. They want me to fax a copy of the title to them. Is this safe? They are saying their bank needs a copy for them to get a loan. Once I fax it, they should get the loan and then they said they are planing on flying out to pick up the vehicle.

Am I safe? I just had a weird feeling from this person from the beginning.

Hello Tomh!

This isn't really what we deal with here but if you have a bad feeling it may be your gut telling you something is wrong. Just from personnel experience I've never had a bank tell me I need a copy of a title to get a loan. Can you tell the buyer you want to fax the title directly to the bank? Them ask for contact details. You should be able to verify it is really going to the bank then from the contact details.

Welcome to Scamwarners, Tomh!
As Justin has said - always trust those "weird feelings". Definitely deal with his bank directly. It's quite possible that he wants a copy of the title to use in a scam of selling your car!
If the "buyer" has emailed you, please check the headers and you might be able to see where the message was sent from. Also google his name and whatever other info he has given you.
