Your instinct is absolutely correct. It is a scam.

There are several things that show it is a scam, but probably the most important (besides the African English, and the fact that this scammer can't even get the name of the country he is supposed to live in right) is the fake travel agency. Travel agencies cannot arange visas, so the moment you are sent to a travel agency, you can be sure it is a scam.

In addition, in the US, au pairs must be sponsored by one of the agencies on the official US government list of acceptable agencies, even if the family contacts the au pair directly.

This post is made by a scammer trying to save his profits. Here you can see how far some scammers want to go to trick innocent people into their scams.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A LIE... THIS TRAVEL AGENCY HAD HELPED MY PREVIOUS AUPAIR TO SECURE HER VISA TO THE US SO THEREFORE I THINK YOU TRYING TO SPOIL THIS ORGANIZATION WITH YOUR LIES... GO GET A JOB OK
