At the end of 2011 I responded to a pop-up ad for this company on my homepage. It appeared that I was requesting a free sample of their product and asked for my card details to pay for the postage and packing which I was willing to do. However, the confirmation message indicated that I had signed up or a course which would cost me £74.95 per month. The package arrived on 3rd January and I returned it immediately unopened, along with a letter explaining my misunderstanding and asking for my details to be removed from their records, with no further goods despatched. I have a Post Office tracking receipt for delivery on 5th January to Linlithgow in Scotland. Today (10th Jan 2012) I have noted a debit to my card of the £74.95 and have been holding onto their freephone number (0808-168-3684) for 40 minutes as I write this, with only piped music for company.
What advice can you give to a) retrieve the money they have taken and b) ensure that they neither send any further goods or deduct any more money?

Hi,

There is a post on this subject here viewtopic.php?p=80463#p80463

It is not the type of scam that we usually deal with and the company probably hide behind the fact that most people who send for the free-trial don't read the small print, which will have told you that you were signing up to the course.

Your only real chance of getting your money back is via your bank, if you explain everything to them, they may do a chargeback and stop any future payments, although it is not guaranteed that they will. You could also try getting in touch with Trading Standards and see what assistance they can offer.

ps I would suggest removing your full name from your post and asking the Admins to change your username to something more anonymous.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
