Has someone offered you a huge sum of money or a valuable consignment? It's a 419 or advance fee fraud - find out how they work, and what to do to be safe.

I'm not sure if this website http://www.spiegelkwartierapt.nl is reliable or not. Having a previous bad experience in this area, of renting apartments, I'm a little (maybe too) cautious. So, the story goes like this: I e-mailed the address there, requesting for an apartment, and they have like a too-good-to-be-true offer, for which they request advance payment, through PayPal. They sent me a payment request, coming from ASM Verbeek (don't know what ASM means)

What do you think?

Hi Wingardium

Welcome to Scamwarners

I have been looking over this for you and dont yet see any evidence of a scam based on my limited fake site knowledge and the information you have provided.

The IP suggested the email came from where is should have
There are no other complaints about the company or the appartment
The whois information says the site was set up in November 08 (I didn't find and expiry date)
and the details of their site seem to check out

From the website
The „real“ Amsterdam experience is yours in this newly renovated and tastefully furnished one-bedroom apartment on the first floor with fully equiped kitchen and bathroom.
Located in a quiet area in the centre of the famous Antique shopping street Spiegelgracht and Spiegelstraat.

Spiegelkwartier is suitable for 2-4 persons. For groups until 8 persons see also apartment Leidse Corner , which is 5 min on walking distance.

Around the corner: Town Centre, Rijks Museum, ATM Machine, Rent a bike, Vondelpark Dam Square, Red Light District, trendy area De Pijp with its famous Albert Cuyp market: 10 min walk

I am not going to say it is not a scam right now but I dont see anything to suggest it is.

Could you please PM or email the content of their emails, I am reluctant to have it posted right now without having more information.

Just wanted to confirm that this is a genuine apartment in Amsterdam, quite a beautiful one too. They just have a weird way of communicating on email sometimes, but there's no scam there.
