IP Address: 82.128.26.231 - Lagos, Nigeria
The scammer hopes that patriotism or general respect for military men will move the recipient of this email to help him. His IP address, however, shows that far from being an American soldier in Iraq, he in fact sent this letter from an internet café in Nigeria.
The BBC News link he provides is about an event that occured back in 2003, and, as the money that was found in Baghdad at this time was then flown out of the country to a secure location elsewhere, it actually has no connection to the scammer's story.
His further emails will introduce some fees regarding the 'shipping' that the person helping him will be required to pay. But there will never be any money shipped anywhere - because it does not exist in the first place.
