Direct Sale Scam

My wife works for a direct sale company making and selling jewelry and just received the following e-mail:

Date: October 6, 2012 4:25:09 PM CDT
To: [email protected]
Subject: Order Request !

I need you to place an Order for me. I got your sales from <the company my wife works for>, My Boss would send you Check for the amount of MY Order, as I don't operate CREDIT CARD, I'm a deaf woman and would prefer you receive the Check first before submitting my Order because it would be sent via Mail, e-mail me with your Full Name, Address and Cell Phone Nbr so that Check can be mail out asap. I would not have my phone turn on till Wednesday because it as been disconnected, by then i can use it to TEXT you because i can ONLY TEXT with it as well.. The table below illustrate my Order.

This is shouting scam to me (not only that, but several others in the company have received almost identical e-mails).

Just wanted to get this out someplace that can be searched.
