One friend of mine contacted me on Facebook and asked that:

How a scammer can send money to my card for me to send money to his family??
I did not know to answer her
Second her, scammer asked her if she needed some money help and she said that did not want
She said that he said that he could send money to her MasterCard and later, she would send some money to his son in USA
I did not answer her because how a person can send money to her MasterCard and can send direct money to his family?
She said to me that all the time the scammer asked her if her card was credit or debit???
She did not understand but the last four days he asked her the limit of her card and I said that if she did not give any number , I don't think she will be in trouble
Please, dear, somebody could explain me that???

Hi.

Please tell your friend that she SHOULD NOT ACCEPT ANY MONEY from the scammer. The money wired will likely be stolen off another credit card, and if she withdraws the money and send it back to the scammer, she'll be in big trouble later.

If the scammer can send money to a credit card, then the scammer can very well send money to his 'family' in trouble. Of course, there is no family, only a scammer who wants to have money in his pockets.

Above all, tell your friend TO DROP ALL CONTACTS WITH THE SCAMMER IMMEDIATELY.

Painful Truth is correct. All contact needs to be dropped.

To "send" money to your friend, the scammer would need all of the credit card information on your friend's account. With that information, the scammer could and would withdraw money from the account OR sell the information to other scammers and thieves.

The scammer would NEVER send money to your friend. Even if they are "borrowing money" from your friend. I don't want to be rude, though, who would ever lend money to a total stranger "met" on the internet. You never know who you are talking to. Believe it or not, my real name isn't Bubbles. I have been vetted to give information to victims here though.

If you friend gives the credit card information to the scammer, the bank would have the right to say that your friend authorized the scammer to use the card.

If they have given any information, they need to call the issuer of the credit card (the number is on the back of the card). If they do not believe me, Painful Truth or you, at the very least they should call the credit card company and run the situation by their fraud department!

Thank you for asking.

Another question is 'why would he want to do that ?' It doesn't make sense. Why doesn't he send the money direct to his family ?

The art of scamming is 'persuasion' - making you do something unusual without question, and without understanding the risk and what the scammer is really doing.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
