Dear <snipped>,
I must thank you for responding to my first email. I would go straight to the proposal at hand
without wasting much of your time. However, I would respectfully request that you handle
the contents of this email discreetly and respect the level of the information you come by as a
result of this email. I am contacting you independently and no one is informed of this
communication. If you accept to work with me on this subject, rest assured I would handle
everything perfectly from a legitimate perspective protecting our both interests. If you
decline, I humbly request that you keep these details to yourself and I promise to compensate
you meaningfully if and when I successfully achieve this.
In March 2010, the subject matter; (Late Robert Hughes) came to our bank to engage in
business discussions with our investment division. He informed us that he had a financial
portfolio of $17 million United States dollars, which he wished to have us invest for him and
I was appointed his portfolio manager at that time. I provided him with a number of
investment suggestions and professional advice in line with my duties. Given the volume of
funds he wished to put into our bank, we met on numerous occasions prior to any investment
being ventured in order to evaluate the risks involved and I encouraged him to consider
assessing data on traditional stocks and bond managers. Based on my advice, we spun the
money around various opportunities and made very attractive profits margins during our first
few months of operation. The accrued profit and capital at that point stood at a little above
US$20 Million. He desired low risk but guaranteed returns on investments, and as such we
could not maximize the full potential of the funds.
In October of the same year, he instructed that the portfolio be liquidated because he needed
to make urgent real estate purchases requiring cash payments. We got in touch with a
specialist bank who agreed to manage the investment for a fee and make cash available to
Robert. Last month, I received a notice from the specialist bank notifying me that as a policy,
their bank was obliged to notify the originator of a transfer in the event of such remaining
dormant after 3years. Apparently, the $20Million we had transferred on behalf of Robert had
sat in their bank for over 3 years untouched, with no instructions from him whatsoever. This
was indeed shocking to me considering the urgency he had requested we make the transfer at
the time. Upon inquiry I found out that he passed away only a few weeks after the transfer
was made to the specialist bank on his behalf.
As his personal banker, I searched information available to me from his files in a bid to reach
out to his next of kin and upon further inquiries I discovered that the he died intestate. In fact,
he died without nominating a next of kin or beneficiary for his estate in the event of the
inevitable. His records with us too show no next of kin and the reason I am writing you is
because you bear the same last name with him.
What I am proposing may smack of unethical practise but only an insider in the banking
world isaware of the internal deals that are sealed daily. Since I have exclusive access to his
file, and with your status as a foreigner bearing same last name as the deceased, I can arrange
all the documentation to successfully present you as Robert's beneficiary after which the
specialist/holding bank will be instructed to make payment of the monies in their custody to
you. Nobody is getting hurt in this and I am convinced that this will work perfectly. As a
banker, we see so much cash and funds being re-assigneddaily.
I know that this may be hard for you to understand, but the dynamics of my position
mandates that I make this move. Such opportunities only come once in a lifetime and
aspersonal banker to the DECEASED and custodian to his files, I hold the KEY to these
funds.
I propose that upon successful completion of this deal, we will split the proceeds according to
a reasonable ratio to be agreed in subsequent communication between us. Please note I am a
family man, I have a wife and children, please do not betray my confidence. If we can be of
one accord and act swiftly on this we stand a good chance to succeed. Get back to me with
yourcontact information so I can communicate with you by telephone and we discuss this
matter extensively.
Finally, I thank you for taking time to read this and look forward to receiving a swift
response from you hoping you accept this offer to participate in this viable and profitable
opportunity.
Yours Sincerely,
Niu Ming
