Please post the whole email, including headers, except your name and address. It sounds like it could be a next-of-kin scam or an Edmond Beneker-type scam, but we'd have to see the whole email to be sure.

If the sender had a legitimate reason for contacting you, he/she needs to say so. A legitimate business would not approach you without stating their business. An individual who knows you needs to say who they are.

I would treat this as an email fishing for information. The best approach is to protect your privacy--simply delete and move on.
