I have just been burned by the ThePalaceReservation.com scammer. As a result, now I am really paranoid of booking, but I am about to travel to London and must book something!

Could someone please check this out and let me know if it is a legitimate site? I have tried the tips listed in the forums for ousting scammers and so far it looks legitimate. I have not spoken with them via phone yet.

Any help would be fantastic! Thank you!

As far as i can tell this company is legit. Their website is online since august 2008 and if it was a scam i would have found hits to scam warning sites. Can't find any bad reviews either. It's always good to google such a site to find out more.

Oh, and welcome here cautious student! I'm sorry you got scammed before with ThePalaceReservation.com. When i did a quick search on them, i found a warning about them. Their website is brandnew and registered for only one year. They are all over craigslist advertising their apartments for a ridiculous price.

Hello CautiousStudent.

The website gives a genuine London landline telephone number. It does not, however, give an office address: which is unusual. The website registration details show:

Registrant's address:
44 lidell garden
London
NW10 3QD
United Kingdom

The first line of that address contains two spelling mistakes, as well as a lack of capitalisation. That is strange, as most people can spell their own address!

As David says, though, the company appears to be legitimate. I would, however, recommend that you ask any questions you have when speaking to them on the telephone, and if you are left with any doubts, perhaps use another letting agent instead. Alternatively, you can Google the names of any of the apartments you are interested in and locate the website of those apartments, and book direct.
