I won't keep repeating the point but it's worth making it now and again, but there is no such thing as a market or trade in Bank Guarantees. It is complete and utter fantasy to suggest that there is.

Banks only issue guarantees for their customers and they don't ever print them off as a form of negotiable security. It is totally fictional to think they would do otherwise as they must know who they're guaranteeing and that they have funds to cover it. If the beneficiary is unknown then a whole new set of legal problems ensue in determining who is the rightful receiver of any claim funds.

The scammers who come up with these frauds appear to have undergone a short course in international finance and failed it miserably.

What astounds me most is how anyone could fall for the scam seeing as no one in their right mind would go anywhere but their own bank in the first instance. To think that anyone would seek such a complex legal and financial facility from a joker off the internet without consulting someone with half a clue more than the scammer is beyond belief.

The legal complexities of the types and forms of guarantee along with varied wordings mean that even if such a trade did exist, the documents being offered would most likely be worthless anyway.

The only rare occurrence in which I can see someone being scammed is if some silk tongued scammer forms a close relationship based on trust with a businessman. Even then the chances of pulling it off are remote, though perhaps the potential rewards are tempting.

The most likely scenario is that a not very bright businessman wants to pull of an unscrupulous 'get rich quick deal' and thinks one of these scammers is the answer to his dreams. Of course a cunning scammer, playing different characters, can offer a fictional 'get rich quick deal' and use the fictional guarantee as the way to bring it about. I would normally expect the scammer and victim to know each other and have had face to face contact in these cases otherwise it is almost inevitable that the victim will seek outside advice, which is fatal for the scammer.
