Robbed abroad and need money urgently!

I'd read all about this sort of scam here and elsewhere so when the following arrived in my inbox from my sister-in-law, I was initially surprised but knew exactly what was going on!

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I and my family presently on a short trip to Istanbul, Turkey. Unfortunately, I was robbed in the hotel I booked, all my valuables which includes cash, cell phones were stolen during the attack but luckily I still have my passport with me.

I've been to the Embassy and the Police here but they are not taking the matter seriously. Please, I really need your financial assistance now because things are really getting tough on me here. Our flight leaves in few hours from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills. Please, let me know if you can help us out?

I'll really appreciate your prompt response.

Of course it's a regularly used script ... but I hope that this will alert members that this is doing the rounds again ... outside the usual holiday periods in Europe!

I have advised her to warn other addresses that this scam is around and not to send money .....

THEN ... I got a 'free' scam, apparently from someone else, using her stolen address and sent less than 30 minutes later ....

My dear I don 't know you and you don't know me but God sent me to you on a mission, if you like to listen to the call and message of the Lord send me your email i will write you there or mail me at ([email protected]) but if you want to refuse his call , then bye i wont force you to God will in your life , I will only advise and tell you about the message i was sent to deliver.

Please be aware when reading emails which apparently come from someone you know but are infact hijacked .....
