Check Scams, Debt Collection scams and other financial scams.

I am another "Please Help me now folks". But, I am in need of some expert advice... I am a "cyber-activist" who has been reporting on some bad shit including arson and possible murders by village police (<Removed link to third party site MW>). I just received an email from "
[email protected]" requesting I respond or they will be forced to give my information to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office... almost the same email as the one posted on another forum from Homeland Security. Am I being played to get my IP and real name (Daniel Nimham is my war/pen name)?

The email address, phone number and links (unless they actually redirected elsewhere in the email) are all legitimate - I'd recommend you contact your lawyer as you need legal advice not help from a forum.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

While the homeland security email was obviously a scam (If Homeland security is getting info about you, Google certainly is not going to be authorized to tell you) the scammers copied a real google notification.

As Alan said, all of the numbers and info check out.

There is one quick check you can make--hit the "reply" button and see if the message goes to a different address. If it does, and that address is not associated with the google legal department, it might be worth a little more investigation. But if it does indeed go back to Google's legal department, then as Alan said, you should assume the notification is legitimate.

Keep in mind that the inquiry does not automatically mean that you are in any kind of legal trouble. They could be seeking your information as a potential witness, or you could be part of a larger group that received a common message or participated in a discussion of interest. But, if in doubt, or if you want to fight to preserve your privacy, you will definitely want to seek the advice of an attorney. The EFF link in the email is legitimate, and you can always try contacting them to see if they can offer any advice..

If you suspected or had information about a crime of this "Gravity" . Your first course of action should have been to file a report with the FBI and / or the New York Attorney General . The work done on this website addresses Foreign Fraud where the victims have no recourse .

Thank each of you for your thoughts and advice. I believe lawyering-up is prudent advice. As to Federal and State Law Enforcement, they have been repeatedly informed and notified by myself and others. These guys are Teflon coated for some reason.

Thanks again
Daniel
